I always thought Nord-Trøndelag was pretty boring, because it’s mostly just farms. But there is one special route that you should definitely add to your trip to Trondheim, especially if you’re looking to get an authentic taste of Norwegian culture.
The Golden Road (also called The Golden Detour, or Den Gyldne Omvei in Norwegian) takes you out onto the Inderøy peninsula, about an hour and a half from Trondheim, which is full artist workshops, restaurants, galleries, family-run farms, breweries and historical monuments.
