Both rooms and the common area were kept very clean. Little details such as library and fresh flowers were nice. Staff was very helpful with recommendations for local dining and events.

Ruco is at a very convenient location being close to the Bus Center where you can access most major sites via the Maru Red Bus. Shio is also a fabulous host who helped me call around when I lost a bag and we managed to get it back. He also recommended great restaurants to go to around town. Hagi is a great place to visit with plenty to do.

Guesthouse Ruco offfers exceptional value in Hagi which is a town of surprises with splendid cafes, warm people, relaxing boat rides, enchanting architecture, significant history, beautiful beaches and unique pottery. The guesthouse itself has a cozy earthy vibe complete with artsy and rustic touches, excellent craft beer and soulful jazz, spotless rooms with a cool breeze at nighttime, a library of useful books including for the art and photography lover, a full kitchen, reading area, and most of all incredible staff. Thank you Shio, Aki, and others. Your recommendations were spot on and I enjoyed our conversation even though I struggled with Japanese. My plans shifted to two nights at Ruco house where I had both the private room ( close to the restroom) as well as a traditional tatami room with a balcony to enjoy coffee in the morning! Give House Ruco a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Exceptionally clean! Great atmosphere and location. The owner is very helpful and had helped me a lot when I was lost. The train lines were cancelled due to the weather, he guided me here. Location is near the bus centre so it’s very convenient.

Located near the bus terminal, luggage can be stored near the bus terminal or the nearby gako/school museum if you arrive early like i did. Host is friendly and gave me multiple local pointers like restaurants. Bed is clean and comfortable , the rooms are also well insulated and warm. This guesthouse offers everything a traveler would need. There are also multiple eateries and convenience stores within walking distance and local attractions can be reached by foot. Note to travelers: hagi loop busses do not show up on google map.
